Fans of classic puzzle adventures are finally getting the modern console experience they’ve been waiting for. Developer Cyan Worlds officially announced that the remakes of Myst and Riven are headed to the PlayStation 5 and PlayStation VR2 on May 19, 2026.
Originally released in the 1990s, Myst and its sequel Riven helped define the puzzle-adventure genre and became some of the most influential PC games ever made. The original Myst famously held the title of best-selling PC game for nearly a decade, introducing players to atmospheric storytelling, cryptic puzzles, and immersive world-building long before cinematic gaming became mainstream.
The PS5 versions are more than simple ports. Cyan says both remakes were rebuilt to take advantage of modern hardware, including enhanced visuals, ray-traced reflections, 4K support, and smoother performance options. Players can also experience both games entirely in VR through PS VR2 support, offering a more immersive journey through the mysterious Ages and islands that made the franchise legendary.
According to Cyan Worlds, both titles will launch at $34.99 each. The studio also confirmed PS5 Pro enhancements, including improved textures, foliage, shading, and increased visual fidelity in both standard and VR gameplay modes.
The announcement has generated excitement across the gaming community, especially among longtime fans who have waited years for modern console versions of the remakes. Online discussions have praised the updated visuals and the chance for a new generation of players to discover the iconic puzzle adventures.
For many gamers, Myst and Riven represent a major piece of gaming history. Now, with modern graphics and full PS5 support, the legendary franchise is preparing for another comeback.
